Greetings Conqueror!
It’s been a while since my last newsletter, so I thought I’d start with a writing update and then share a little bit about what I’ve been up to lately.

As I’m sure you’ve seen it build from Dark Lament through Reborn, there are continually more characters involved in the story and more story threads woven. I’ve written the first 16 chapters, fifteen of which take place in the first day of the book. Yes, you read that correct! My wife laughs at me because time moves so slowly in my novels. But there’s just so much going on! Rest assured, we will get through an entire month in this book. 😃
In Rended Souls, there will be at least 12 character perspectives, possibly more. It is a daunting task to weave all of their stories together, but I’m up for the challenge!
For many of the last several weeks I’ve worked with my wife on fixing timing issues in the events throughout the book, and I am finally at a point where I’m satisfied that they’ve all been worked out.
I’m certain Rended Souls will be my best book so far. The story keeps me awake many nights thinking about the adventures, love, loss, war, and death that bleed from the pages. There is some comedy to be had as well. It wouldn’t be one of my books without it!
So, I’m asking that you please be patient with me. I want this novel out and in your hands as soon as possible, but I refuse to compromise on its story and quality. Keep your fingers crossed that it’s only a few months away from release!
Rakzar growled, “Don’t you dare die on me while I’m gone. I’ll return as soon as I’ve ripped her heart out.”
Urza grabbed his snout and rubbed her nose against his. Hers was as dry as desert sand, and the implications of what it meant scared him. He couldn’t think about it though. Doing so might get him killed.
“Be safe, and don’t do anything stupid,” she said.
What part of this half-baked plan isn’t stupid?
He nodded and headed out the door, too afraid to take one last backward glance.

One more (Potential SPOILER if you haven’t read the first two books):
“Humans are a plague that devastates our world with every thought and action. When I lived before, two factions of humans warred: the zhifʈäd and the ʊnzhifʈäd. The ʊnzhifʈäd believed that any person or creature that possessed the ability to wield mezhik should be imprisoned and, in some cases, eradicated.
“I fought alongside the zhifʈäd to bring justice to the world, but a select few of the zhifʈäd known as Ūrdär Dhef Ƨäfn Dhä betrayed us. Those traitors killed my servant, Magus Carac, and then tried to kill me by removing my heart, but they didn’t have the means to destroy it. So, they took my heart and locked it up in a place where no one could ever retrieve it.”
Aria nodded with understanding. “Until Nardus came along.”
“Yes.” Cinolth crushed the top of the rampart barrier in his clawed hand. “So, now I will do everything in my power to bring the human race to its knees and plunge it toward extinction.”
“I understand why you think this will satisfy you, but your plan is flawed.”
Cinolth’s head snaked down to her level. Rage pulsed in his red, reptilian eyes, each the size of her head. “You question my intelligence?” His thick, gravelly voice shook the rampart. Her shirt and hair dried instantly from the heat of his breath.

One thing that was kinda terrible while we were there was the “love bug” infestation. Seriously, it was horrific at times. When we drove out to Kennedy Space Center we were bombarded with bugs. The sky was nearly black with them and it was like driving through hail as they battered our rental car. Talk about gross! If you’ve never seen the “love bugs,” here’s a video for you. 🙂
